colourful vintage kitchen

I think I'm ready. I am ready to put some colour back in my shop. After a week of listing colourless, grown up "hollywood regency" home decor, I find myself missing the cute and colourful vintage things to shoot and list.

So tomorrow's shop update will be all about colourful vintage kitchen. Orange you glad? ha! ok I think I am cracking myself up here...anyhoo, here's some colourful, adorable kitchens I found on flickr.

hollywood regency home decor

My next shop update will be all about "glamming up" a room; the decorating style known as Hollywood Regency. The elements in this style includes Asian inspired décor, chinoiserie, black and white pattern, pops of bold colours, faux bamboo, animal prints. And of course you can’t have Hollywood Regency without a splash of glitter and gold, so there will be lots of silver and gold home accents. See you back here on Monday!

All these beautiful and inspirational photos are found from flickr.

Apartment Therapy has also recently did a house tour with this fabulous San Francisco home with Regency glamour style home decor.

industrial style decorating

Although I would consider only a few pieces of the rusted and crusted furniture in my home, I love the fact that these style of decorating uses old equipments (be it from school, warehouses, office or garage) and given a second life in a residential setting. I love the uniqueness and quirkiness that it brings into a room.

Some flickr photos I found here with "industrial chic" tags.

p.s. I will be updating the shop with some modern and industrial items on Monday.

granny chic

I have always been enamored by simple little things like pretty little teacups, old wallpaper, crochet pillows and needlepoint wall art, evident in some of my home décor. I didn’t realize there was a name for it: GRANNY CHIC. When a reader told me of such a trend maybe coming back again, I quickly went to Flickr and look for some inspiration, and sure enough I found this group and all their charming granny home decor goodness which all evokes comfort, familiarity and nostalgia.

I may have to do a shop update with these theme soon. I just realized I have accumulated lots of items that falls under this category. By the way, I do my shop updates now where I pick several items from my inventory with a concurrent theme and list them in the shop on Mondays.

This Flickr's group has the most inspiring collection of mid century decor photos. Speaking of interior design, I just stumbled on this funny blog last night and couldn't stop reading and laughing.

new obsession: jadite kitchenwares

So I have been obsessing about jadite kitchenwares since I thrifted these Fire King mugs a week ago. They're in mint condition at .49 cents a piece. When I returned home I checked Ebay just to see how much they were going for these days and found these set of 6 jadite mugs currently going for $220 and the auction is not over yet.

They seem to be the hottest collectible vintage glassware at the moment. In my many hours of thrifting, there are only a handful, actually twice that I came across jadite glassware. The ones I see in the antique shops or antique mall are priced over the roof and I certainly could not afford it. I can't believe how expensive they've gotten over the years and acquiring these at reasonable price to resell is very dificult.

I'm keeping the mugs and will be the start of a collection. I'm trying really hard not to stalk ebay to look for deals, but as any seasoned collectors would say; collecting takes patience and discipline. And persistence of course, which reminds me I must find a babysitter by tomorrow to visit the estate sale this Thursday to which they apparently have tons of this stuff, I can't wait!
