new home: apple canisters

Super excited to see this home tour of Bradford Shellhamer's home in New York Times, and to see those red and yellow apple canisters he ordered prominently displayed on his fabulous kitchen counter. I really admire his style, all the bright colors makes the place so fun and cheerful.  The red heart shaped lounge chairs on the second photo is to die for!

You can check out the rest of the home tour here.

Both photos via NYT.

pink walls

I had a little downtime this past weekend (a calm before the storm) and painted the kids room pink!  I have been re-decorating their room and thought pink would go well with the vintage brass beds I got couple of weeks ago.  I was not so sure of the outcome but my pinterest board helped me ease my mind a little with above images.  It wasn't too bad actually, and the kids love it.  It was a very light shade of dusty pink much like the first photo.  I will make sure to share some pictures of the room soon.

seeing green

lately I have been drawn to the color of green, particularly sea green.  I have been finding lots of green colored items in my recent trips to the auction and thrift shop.  Here are some recent green addition to Modish Vintage.

the hanging chair

I've seen them everywhere- the hanging chair, the epitome of all relaxation chair. I'd like to imagine myself curled up on one of this enjoying a glass of ice tea reading my favorite book while gently swinging and taking in the sweet gentle breeze in my patio.

Well, I recently found this awesome rattan hanging chair at an auction and would have hang it in my house if only I have enough room but alas no room, too much mismatched chairs sitting around and two feisty kiddos just quashed my daydreaming alltogether.

Images above except last one are via Apartment Theraphy and Pinterest.

orange and light blue

There's no denying that I tend to gravitate to bright and vibrant shades when it comes to picking the items for Modish Vintage. Orange, light bllue (and it's many variations), jade green are just a few that tops the list.  I would love to decorate my house like these photos below; eclectic, colorful, fun and interesting.

pretty pastels

I recently joined Pinterest and love looking at other people pins, there's so much inspiration in one place. I found these beautiful images all evoking the beauty of spring from Tinas's board and it had me dreaming of a real spring weather.

This weekend I didn't do any thrifting at all, but did some yard work and also had a nice intimate dinner with the mister at our favorite italian place and went for a leisurely walk on the mall right after, which seemed  a little weird now that I don't ever visit the mall anymore,  I would be looking at a Coach purse and telling myself just how much vintage items I can stuff my car with that price.  But this weekend I feel like treating myself a little so we stopped by at H&M- the only clothing shop that carries nice, inexpensive clothes that does not make me feel guilty of buying. I bought a couple of nice shirts and a top and a pair of sandals, and I can't wait to wear them outside without having to wear socks and jacket.

Maxfield Parrish sky

I was walking to the library yesterday and I looked up to the sky and thought wow! it looks like a Maxfield Parrish kind of day; no rain, a little cloudy but with the prettiest blue skies, kind of rare in the northwest in this fall months.  When I saw the clouds it reminded me of his beautiful works, thus inspired me to do this post.

When I came home, I scan through this book (bought from Ebay long ago) and just stared at some of my favorite photos.

A lonely Parrish print hangs on my bedroom wall...hope to find a few more to give it company.

some of his works from the early 20th cent. (from the book)

Happy Friday! hope it's sunny and blue skies wherever you are this weekend!
