Instant collection: FLW books

A vast collection of vintage Frank Lloyd_Wright books was up for auction last week, I won this stack for a great bargain. Though I'm not very familiar with his work and only read a chapter about him in my western humanities class back in college, I thought it'd be nice to have these for some easy reading and thumb through the photos.

Ok, I'll admit that I tend to hang on to my books forever.  Unlike clothes or housewares, it's really hard for me to donate my old books; I still have my textbooks from college!

When I discovered this site showcasing all the books and bookshelves I thought I'd share it here and maybe we can all dream of finding that cute and unique bookshelf or better yet make our own pretty bookshelves to house our collections.

love: Japanese craft books

Happiness is sitting at Kinukuniya Bookstore one whole afternoon thumbing through pages of Japanese craft books or better yet buying as many as you can afford to add to your collection. I bought a couple of these books late last year to get some inspirations on making my own bags, but of course not much sewing happened.

These books are so fun to look at, although they are mostly written in Japanese, the instructions with the diagrams are very easy to follow.

These photos are my favorites. The totes are so cute!!

I managed to make one just like this which turned out pretty good, I think.

I used dark brown corduroy for the handles. For the bag I used brown wool and some lace for the details.

Lot of David Sedaris books I won from Ebay not too long ago. One of my many resolutions this year is to try to read more books and ease a bit on reading blogs. I first read Me Talk Pretty One Day a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. His collection of essays are so original and interesting and some just laugh out loud funny, he has a way of telling ordinary stories funny and extra-ordinary. I'm sure I'll enjoy these as I did the first book.
